Hasan Ali Kadiwala Writes Buildings and Builds Words

In Hasan Ali Kadiwala's work, a line of script can become a wall, and a wall can dissolve back into writing.

Born in Siddhapur, Gujarat, and based in Vadodara, he took his MFA in printmaking at MSU Baroda, one of India's great art schools. He builds his images from Arabic and Urdu script, the forms of Islamic architecture, and motifs from nature, letting language, structure and spirit blur into a single abstract surface.

His work carries real recognition: the Immerse Fellowship in 2025, a Gujarat State Lalit Kala Academy Award in 2021, and representation through galleries including Method and Sakshi.
