Farhin Afza Builds Rooms Out of Memory
Installation, print and handmade books that hold the textures of South Asian Muslim domestic life. A Hyderabad artist turning the private home into something worth looking at closely.
Farhin Afza makes art out of the room you grew up in, and the quiet politics of who gets to feel at home.
Born in Bihar Sharif and now based in Hyderabad, she holds an MFA from the University of Hyderabad, after a BFA and an MA at Jamia Millia Islamia in Delhi. Working across installation, painting, printmaking and book-making, she draws on the textures of South Asian Muslim domestic life, memory, belonging, and the everyday objects that hold both.
The work is getting noticed. She was named an India Art Fair Artist-in-Residence for 2026 and is a recipient of the Immerse Fellowship, one of the more serious runways for emerging Indian artists today.
